BRING PCAR DEMO NOTES TMR (class from 1730-1815)

Dear all,

As you might have noticed from webmail that the faculty has arranged a timeslot for the 2 PCAR lectures (demo) we have missed today.

Just a gentle reminder for bringing the notes for tomorrow.

We will also check with the facultyfirst thing tomorrow if there is any possibilities for rescheduling the friday's lecture to monday. We will see how it goes.

URGENT! LLSK Pre tutorial reading

Dear all,

We are deeply sorry about the last minute notice about the pre-tutorial reading of LLSK2 tomorrow for group S1-S8.

In our printed notes this week we have attached 2 journals, one of which was supposed to be pre-tutorial reading. However, we have just come to notice that that journal was printed wrongly. The wrong journal was also about Diabetes.

We have now attached the correct journal and sent to your via webmail.

Once again, we would like to apologies for the error. Please read the correct journal as attached before the tutorial tomorrow.

Some messages before school starts in 3 days

Dear all,

Once again, thanks for your patience for the SSM grouping and registration.

The first message will be (haha): please remind your groupmates, who have not registered online, to contact the faculty office as soon as possible.

Secondly, please bring along your lab coat for the PHEA practical on the second day of class. This is a special reminder for people who are moving into hostels this weekend.

Thirdly, remember to bring $100 for the deposit of the microscopes and slides for PHEA.

FINALLY and most importantly, the notes for Week One has already been printed for you.

Dear all,

Everyone has finally got their topics.

Some final points wanna add as gentle reminders.

1) PLEASE remember to register your selected and allocated topics on the faculty website INDIVIDUALLY
2) If any of your groupmates are not in HK/ have no access to internet before 27th Aug during the registration period: Go to the faculty office on the Sept 1 and register with them in person.

3) [THIS IS IMPORTANT] check whether your tutor is holding more than 2 SSM topics at the same time or not. If, unfortunately, your tutor is holding more than 2 SSM topics, PLEASE find JACKY asap!!!!

RESULTS RELEASED!!!!

Hey guys,

After Fiona's hard work in these 2 days, the SGS has allocated us with the SSM groups and topics that we are going to work on in the coming academic year.

Please go on to the MEDIC Forum to check out the results, the final results is finalised on the "All topic" page of the database.

For any group that:

1) has not been allocated with Healthcare Database
2) has not been allocated with 2 Days Analysis or 5 Days analysis
3) has ONLY been allocated with ONE 2 Days Analysis or 5 Days analysis

Please go to the "all topic" page to look for available topics.

Once you have picked the topic please call or email your choice to JACKY.

In this phrase the topic allocation will be in a first-come-first-serve basis.

Dear all,

As some of you, who have registered on the SGS (SSM Grouping System) on Medic Forum, might have noticed; we are supposed to have 6 choices picked in Journal Analysis SSMs.

The reason being, as follow:

Journal Paper Analysis

    * two 2-day modules (elementary)
    * two 5-day modules (advanced)
      In this SSM, through four short modules of different level of complexity, students will learn some basic principles of the critical analysis of published data and the evidence-based approach to medicine and health information. Students will be guided to critically appraise and review some assigned......

SO WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE 5 SSM TOPICS DONE IN MED 2

Namely: One HealthCare, Two 2-Days-Analysis and Two 5-Days Analysis.

Just wanna make sure all of us notice the above information.

IMPORTANT MED2 SSM DEADLINES and POINTS TO NOTE

Dear all,

Before we get started to the very important points we have below, we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Fiona for her hard work about the registration system (internal).

As we all know, we are going to use the "internal/forum/whatever-you-call" system for SSM selection (for fairness or whatever). So, we hope this is a consensus that we will not input the official registration before the internal results are released.

Here is a some sort of timeline that we can all work together. Heehee.

21st - 23rd August 2008 = MEDIC FORUM [www.cuhkmedic.org] Internal Registration Open

23rd August 2008 midnight = Internal registration close

24th August 2008 3:00pm = registration results released

For groups that still haven't got a topic, please make sure you understand the following:
*24-26th August 2008 = topics selection on a first come first serve basis
Please check on the forum which topics are still free, call Jacky (please check med directory). He will have your group's choice loaded in the system and everyone should be able to see it.

By 26th August EVERY group should have their topic fixed!!!!!

MED2 SSM Latest Update (20/8/2008)

Dear all,

We have just received notice from the faculty that the deadline of registration would not be postponed. The reason being SSM2 starts on the 2nd week of Sept and we should have the tutor contacted before that.

However, it is understood that some of us will be overseas during the registration period, the faculty agrees that those overseas can have their registration done in person and on a "CASE BY CASE" on the 1st Sept, 2008.

Another important thing is that:

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE ALL THREE of our SSMs registered by the deadline set by the faculty.

In the meantime, please have your groups formed and the topics preferences selected. Please try to check this class xanga more often these few days and we will co-ordinate the selection database with Fiona.

It will be highly appreciated if you can have your group lists sent to the class gmail "cuhkmed2012@gmail.com".

MED2 SSM

Hey all,

We have received a couple of calls about MED2 SSM selection.

We understand it is kinda hard for us to get SSM organised when it is still summer holiday.

So, we have sent an email asking whether the selection period can be postponed to Sept 1 - 5, and we are waiting for faculty's response.

At the moment, we think it would be nice if you guys can look at the topic to facilitate the selection sooner or later.

Enjoyssssssss and cant wait to see you all on the 1st of Sept.
